Broadway end of the park and on the greyhound racing oval

Bring your family and friends and join the fun. There will be community games with teams representing Glebe and Forest Lodge competing with Pyrmont and Ultimo, dog races for your family pet and heritage displays.

The Wentworth Park Community Celebration will give residents of Glebe, Pyrmont and Ultimo a chance to rediscover this great park. The day will comprise a wide variety of sporting events and talks and displays to celebrate the history and existence of our wonderful but (until recently) much neglected park.

The focus is on community involvement in games using the park space and facilities including the central section where the greyhound racing track is located, and the southern (Broadway) end of the park.

Join in:

  • the giant tug o' war and a variety of other sports,
  • cheer your suburb's soccer team wearing your suburb's colours (Glebe/Forest Lodge - red Pyrmont/Ultimo - blue),
  • view displays about the park and listen to talks by well known local historians

The day will also include races for local pooches that fancy a sprint along the dog track. The winner of these "Any Other Hound Dog" races will be presented with the coveted inaugural Wenty Park Mongrel Cup by the Wentworth Park Trust.

Other sports will include a soccer match by teams representing Ultimo/Pyrmont and Glebe/Forest Lodge, a giant tug-o-war, and many other team sports.

The heritage listed kennels at Wentworth Park. Is your family
dog a potential winner of the Wenty Park Mongrel Cup?
