Thanks to the Sydney City Council and the Wentworth Park Sporting Complex Trust, the future for Wentworth Park is looking much brighter these days. The Trust has refurbished the western (Glebe) entrance to the park, and the Council and the Trust are exploring ways to improving the eastern (Ultimo) perimeter, including widening the footpath. The Council has also made a range of minor improvements to the areas of the park that it administers, and the Council and the Trust hope to remove the infill in the arches of the light rail viaduct and relocate the equipment currently stored there. However much more can be done. In the late 19th century Wentworth Park was one of Sydney's finest and the Blackwattle Cove Coalition (BCC) aims to see it regain this status. We believe Wentworth Park should be primarily a people's park, and to achieve this we want to know what the residents of the surrounding suburbs want in the park. The competition being conducted in conjunction with the celebration is aimed at gathering a wide range of ideas about the future of the park. BCC will pursue what it judges to be the best ideas, and all serious suggestions will be passed on to the Council or the Trust. One vision for the future of the park was incorporated in a story called Blackwattle Cove 201X prepared by BCC in 2006. Click here if you would like to read about our ideas for the future; they may be very different to yours so let's hear what you have to say! There are several ways to enter our competition:
